Natural Remedies for Shingles

Steven asks…

Natural Remedies for Shingles?

Does anyone know some natural or home remedies for shingles (something safe to put in the bath)? I know about oatmeal, but I need some more ides. Thanks!

admin answers:

Pain medicine — ibuprofen or advil. Cool compresses.

Since you don’t want to go antiviral route, you are just going to let the shingles run its course.

Advice for shingles relief?

My mom has had her shingles flare up again. It’s been really bad this time.

Has been bothering her for 4 weeks now.

2 questions:

1) Any natural remedies that help with shingles?

2) If shingles are a virus, wouldn’t going to a sauna help since high temps kill virus and reduce the viral load?

admin answers:

1. No, you need to go to the doctor and get a prescription for Valtrex or something similar.
2. No, because her internal body temperature will not rise high enough to kill the virus.
