does Acyclovir ( a medicine that is used to decrease pain) kick your off birth control like Antibiotics?
i had shingles and they put me on acycolvir, they did not mention it decreases my birth control, i was just wondering if it had the same affect as Antibiotics while being on birth control?

admin answers:
No and acyclovir is an anti-viral medication, not a pain medication. When someone has shingles, they are often given an anti-viral which will shorten the length of time you have the shingles plus a pain medication such as Vicodin, Percocet or Tylenol #3 for the pain.

Nancy asks…
Do I have and autoImmune problem? I have increasing fatigue and joint pain. but neg lupus and rheumatoid tests?
I am 40 yrs old and over the past year or so have increasing severe fatigue, pain and aching in my back, neck, hips and shoulders. I now have about 10 “good” days out of each month. I also have been sick a lot, have had reoccurring shingles. I get hives out in the sun and burn in only a few minutes. And I get weird rashes on my body -usually down my back or my upper neck and chest area. I have low thyroid (but levels are in control with low dose of med) and occasional anemia. I am a healthy weight, healthy diet, and very active but now if I push myself too much with activity I get extremely nauseated. Rheumatoid and Lupus tests came back negative but my Igg (?) was low. Also a few weak positives. My doctor is trying to get me referred to a rheumatologist or immunologist but it has been months going through the hoops with poor medical insurance provider and still trying. Maybe a change in my diet could help if I knew what was wrong? I’m becoming more frustrated by the day.I have 4 months of nursing school left and have got to get better to make it through and finish! Any ideas whats wrong with me? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I am going to suggest two types of things that you may be eating that may be causing you problems.
The first is gluten containing foods if you have developed celiac disease or a gluten intolerance. You can get tested for celiac disease by continuing to eat gluten found in wheat, rye and barley until you get tested with blood work and an endoscopy. Even if the tests are negative, go gluten free for 3 months to see if you have nonceliac gluten intolerance.
The second type of foods are called nightshades which are tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant and a few others. They can cause joint pain and in some people, cause rashes, hives and other problems. You would have to quit eating them and see what happens.
I see what you said about insurance providers so if you want an answer without testing, then you just go on a gluten free diet and see if you get better. After that go nightshade free if the problems persist.
If the problems persist after the diet attempts, then you may need to see a team at a research hospital about the possibility of vasculitits or another autoimmune disease.

Medical Question for Doctors -Nurses-Diet- about health?
Being real sick with Shingles and having lots of pain for some time-now better-stressed out before that-now some added stress which will be handled. By testing my sugar i know it has come down from over 600 goin to hit the bottom below 30 to the highest about 300(doing some beter now) I almost died and got in trouble a few other times. When I go to the Doctor weight is mentioned in the past (not that i sit and eat junk all the time)so how do i lose weight-no longer eating much bread even oatmeal is high in calories. If i eat only mostly raw vegetables and apples or other fruit would this be O.K. as i have trouble losing even a pound. Even when i could exercise more i could not lose. I need to be 120 lbs.Is there any hope that i can make it happen? Diabetics is inherited and i can not help being sick -interested in control so life can be better. Please do not be rude. Thanks for any helpful advise.

Guess you have a lot going on. The best way to lose weight, which I understand to be you current concern at this point in time, is to eat a lot of fiber, which means that, yes you are going to eat a lot of vegetables, oatmeal and fruits. You need however to have a balance diet so you’ll need definately to eat of the other food groups. Ideally you diet experts advise should be 70% natural.
Yes, if you notice most vegetarians are slim.
You also need not to eat between meals, remember your food takes 4-6 hours to digest. The digestion process should be ocmpleted before you seek to add another load of food in.If you do feel hungry drink water. Drink lots of water, water helps to suppress the appetite, Research on the benifits of grapefruit and weight control. For your blood sugar control I recommend eating more complex carbohydrate instead of refine foods. So you can eat your bread, just have it in wheat instead of white bread..Continue excercising, and get sufficeint rest.
ANd remember trust in GOD, for with CHRIST all things are possible – even losing weight.
By the way I am not yet a doctor, but aspiring to be.

what can cause breast pains?
both of my breast hurt kind of a throbbing pain like they are sore what can cause this? Ive been on birth control for about a month and a half but i just started having these pains about a week ago i also have shingles but i don’t think that has anything to do with it if you have any idea what it can be please let me know my nipples are also sore
theirs no way I’m pregnant so that cant be it

admin answers:
First of all, just so you know I am a girl, this is just my bf’s account.
It could just be because of your period. Are you on your period now, or close to it? Sometimes my nipples hurt a few days before or during.
