Can you put a pitch roof on a 14×70 ft mobile home using roof trusses. This one has a slight oval to the top?
I have an old 14×70 ft mobile home with the old style oval top roof to it. I would like to put roof truses on it and finish with shingles. Will the side walls support the added weight of the roof with shingles.

admin answers:
In a word…no. You will have to build a self supporting structure over the roof. Regulations for Mobes prohibit adding to or removing from the structure of a mobe. Additional structures may not be attatched to the home such as decks, carports, canopys etc.

3 weeks into shingles and burning is getting worse?
my 77 year ol dad complained of pain at top of his right leg 3 weeks ago today, the day afte he noticed spots appearing and visited the doctor imediately he was diagnosed as having shingles, doctor said he could give him nothing to help, he has spots all down his leg and up his side, the lower leg appears to be clearing up and is less painful but the burning on his upper leg appears to be getting worse and is now spreading across hi tummy – just wondering if anyone can advise if this is taking the right course or should we be concerned? he is using calamine lotion as advised but nothing is helping this awful burning, he also puts a flannel in the freezer to lay on the burning area – he lives 100 miles away and as my son has’nt yet had chickenpox we cannot visit until he has been given the all clear, so, i ring him everyday for moral support and to keep updated, but I could really do with some advice – anyone had singles who can let me know how it went with you or if you are knowledge

What supports the bricks of a brick roof dormer?
shingles and siding are light and don’t require support. but some roof dormers have brick walls. how are they supported?
do they rest on the rafters or ceiling joists?
thank you 🙂

admin answers:
A couple of ways you could do it…bring it up through the roof from the attic floor , or lag an angle iron just below the roof line…

Susan asks…
What is the average cost of a second level addition with raising a roof nine feet no dormers.?
I plan on putting a second story addition on to my 1400 square foot rancher. The attic has a a frame roof with shingles, instead of putting dormers in I plan on raising the roof nine feet and putting a new roof on. I know my foundation can support the new addition, I’m just looking for a rough figure on the construction of the exterior (raising it and building a new roof). The attic has hard wood floors and is totally open.

Wish I had the answer, because we are seriously looking at doing the same thing to our meager 1400 sf cottage. I have something like a historic four-square or a modern Craftsman/Prairie in mind. Anxious to see what responses you may get.
