You need to drink a minimum of 4 to 6 16Oz glasses of water each day normally. Dehydration can be a real issue, but it is less likely.

The negative test results are probably valid. Not to worry.

If you have been through a large dose of Anti-biotics (sounds like you have), you can end up with a yeast infection to one extent or another because the anti-biotics kill off the good bacteria too, and the good or “normal” bacteria tend to help keep the yeast type infections in check.

There is literally hundreds of different types of antibiotics, and different bacteria are affected in different ways. Some types of bacterial infection are immune to certain types of anti-biotics all together.

I am thinking you have an infection which was not cleared up by your previous medications. You need to see an OB/GYN doctor, you need to have “culture and sensitivity” tests run on you blood, urine, and the discharge from your vagina. You may also want your doctor to do a “graham stain” or a “slide” of the discharge.

These tests will find out what your are infected with and what medications the infection will be cured by. They need to be done.

These types of infections can go on for a long time, and they can doo serious damage. Work intensively with you doctor to get it dealt with. If you doctor doesn’t help you adequately, get another doctor.

shingles and chicken pox?

I had shingles in 94, and it was very painful, my question is what are the side effects, I seen in the Dr, office that shingles causes nerve damage, loss of hearing, and it effects eye site, so I want to know what can happen to me, and can I get it again?

admin answers:

When you are a child and have chicken pox the virus remains in your body, dormant in the spinal cord. Your immune system keeps it at bay. During times of weakened immune system the virus comes back to life and exhibits itself through your nerve endings. A suppressed immune system, either due to medication or some type of illness is what allows one to get the shingles. A child can catch the chicken pox from an adult who has shingles.
You can get it again, find out what depleted your immune system and try to correct it.

Ruth asks…

Am i ok? What is wrong?

on tuesday i started getting really bad pains in my side, it kept me up tuesday night. Wednesday was better but still sore. Thurday my ribs started gettin really tender to touch. Friday my skin was really sensitive and hurts to slightly touch by my ribs. it hurts to breath and even hold my arm next to my side. I thought maybe my ribs cracked again but my doc told me it could be that or shingles comming on. I dont have a rash! Saturday i had a fever and chills and my side hurt alot. Today is Sunday and i got a headache that hurts especially when i cough and a on and off fever my side does not hurt so bad but still a little. Any ideas what is wrong? What causes shingles anyways? Would not of my appendix burst already? My side is getting better! i had my gall bladder removeda year ago! Today being monday my stomach hurts and i got diareah, i ate a bag of sun chips and my poo came out redy orange. But the chips were orange so i hope that is ok. Why is it something different every day?

I’m not sure what’s wrong, Jessica. But it does sound pretty severe. Has the doctor suggested a treatment, or is he treating you? If not, find one who will.

Good luck and feel better!

Shingles are caused by a virus…the chicken pox virus. Stress can cause an attack. The nerve become inflamed and you get bumps that blister and look like chicken pox.

I would see the doctor again the other symptoms do not sound like shingles.

Nancy asks…

What is the cause of skin shingles?

admin answers:

Shingles is a skin rash caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. This virus is called the Varicella zoster virus (VZV) and is in the herpes family of viruses. After an individual has chickenpox, this virus lives dormant in the nervous system and is never fully cleared from the body. Under certain circumstances, such as emotional stress, immune deficiency (from AIDS or chemotherapy), or with cancer, the virus reactivates and causes shingles. In most cases of shingles, however, a cause for the reactivation of the virus is never found. Anyone who has ever had chickenpox is at risk for the development of shingles, although it occurs most commonly in people over the age of 60. It has been estimated that up to 1,000,000 cases of shingles occur each year in the U.S.

The herpes virus that causes shingles and chickenpox is not the same as the herpes viruses that causes genital herpes (which can be sexually transmitted) or herpes mouth sores. Shingles is medically termed herpes zoster.
