Eczema, Psoriasis, Dieatry Causes and Cures

Article by Richard Heft

The skin is the body’s largest external organ. It acts as a protective cover, shield, barrier between the body and the external environment (heat, cold, dryness, dampness). The skin has pores, openings allowing the body to retain and or release excess heat, energy (in the form of perspiration). Sebaceous glands located throughout the body in the dermis (layer of skin below the epidermis, outer layer of skin) secrete sebum (oily liquid) that moistens the skin and hair. It also helps the body retain heat. Acne (raised, red lesions, pustules, blackheads, etc.) is an inflammatory (hot) disease of the sebaceous glands affecting primarily the face and shoulders. Eczema despite being classified as an inflammatory disease is generally cold, deficient and damp.

The skin is made from food, nutrients. Long-term low protein, low fat (soft dairy, beans, nuts, etc.) and high carbohydrate (salads, tropical fruits, juices, etc.) diets tend to dilute and weaken digestion, reducing nutrient absorption, blood (blood deficiency, thin blood). Blood deficiency in the extreme, tends to weaken, sag, thin, dry, crack and or bleed the skin in addition to producing partial facial flushing, red spots, splotches, acne, eczema, exposed capillaries, blue veins and or translucent skin.

Too much protein and fat, especially animal, fried foods and oil tends to thicken and saturate the blood with excess protein, fat and cholesterol. In the extreme, excess protein, fat can overflow into the skin causing raised, red, hard painful, oily pimples; pus, boils and or dry flaky skin; warts, moles, psoriasis, tumors, itching, scratching. Long-term poor circulation, via high protein, high fat, and clogged arteries can also dry, overheat, inflame and pain the nerves in the head (symptoms of shingle, herpes zoster).

The middle diet, meal plan adjusted accordingly is recommended. Eat simply and do not overeat. For deficiency, increase animal protein, fat (eggs, turkey, chicken, etc.), spices, cooked foods, etc. Eat a small amount of fruit (no tropical). For the overbuilt, eat less animal and more beans, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruit, etc. Space and or skip meals, especially dinner.

Case history: In 1989, I developed a bad, hideous case of eczema. It first started as a pimple, blister on my index finger (left hand) that quickly multiplied over the next few months into a multitude of blisters, cracked skin, bleeding, pus, etc. that not only covered the entire back of my left hand and fingers, but was also starting to crawl up, infect the arm. Two fingers on my right hand were also starting to infect. This happened while I was running my health food store and going to acupuncture school. It was gross. I wore surgical gloves during the day. I tried every Chinese herbal remedy. Nothing worked. My skin, hands were getting worse. I eventually turned to Ayurvedic Medicine via Ayurvedic Healing, and Yoga of Herbs by Dr. David Frawley, O.M.D., which recommended the use of spices. My diet at the time was bland, low protein, low fat, sweet and cooling. I was living in Florida. I reduced juices, fruits while increasing protein, fat, cooked foods and spices. I always used at least five spices. Within three weeks, my eczema cleared up. My digestion also improved less bloating, gas, burping, farting, etc. I did have eczema as a teenager (not as serious).

Case history I counseled a young man, age 38 with severe psoriasis: dry, scaly, flaky and inflamed skin on his head, face, back, etc. He was also overweight and constantly scratching. His original diet was high protein, high fat (red meat, pork, fried foods, etc.). I advised the colder middle diet, especially raw vegetables and fruits: carrots, celery, apples, etc. In seven months, his face, head and back completely cleared up. He also lost 50#.

Your Questions About Shingles

Carol asks…

This is about my Dad. He has twice been suffering red rash all around his left eye down to the jaw bone?

This is about my Dad. He has twice been suffering red rash all around his left eye down to the jaw bone. His jaw hurts, making it dificult. He’s had lot of problems beginning in October of last years. He had carotid artery surgery; sever choking 4 o 5 times in hospital which left him in fear of eating; prostate cancer has come back and is being treated with hormone therapy which fixed ot fixed it last time. He also had back then, radiation therapy.

He’s seen an eye doctor. It’s not his eyes. He went to the dentst today, but the dentist couldn’t find anything, so they ruled out TMJ. They have also ruled out shingles.

My Dad is a young 85. You’d never know it to look at him. He is the light of my life.

Please, does anyone know anybody who has had similar symptoms? Please — no jokes. This is very serious.

I thank all of you who respond,

admin answers:

The only person i can think of that’s left to see is a dermatologist. Since it’s a rash. They should know. He might be having a reaction to something. I would talk to the normal doctor or a dermatologist. Or both

Go and have your eyes tested by an optician. I have dry eyes which means I have to put in whats called real tears which I purchase from the chemist. My eyes are unable to hold liquid because of the dryness which causes my eyes to run.

Jenny asks…

Is it possible to get herpes through underwear or clothing? or through public restrooms?

I was found with hsv2 and 1 antbodies in my blood a few years ago, with the only symptom ever being some sores inside my mouth i assumed were cold sores. I was avirgin at the time, without any sexual contact whatsoever. Yet I had all the symptoms of the shingles. I had been working with senior citizens that summer. I was told “maybe that positive herpes result is really the varicella virus, and its the shingles that is afecting your eye but its rare because you are young”. All the while I am thinking how could the test for herpes have that broad range, and if I contracted that HSV2 disease from a roommate that had the virus that lent me her underwear one time. I have no symptoms now. The only symptom was my headache, that developed into eye pain that developed ARN and later a retinal detachment. I was given acyclovir at the hospital (where I was for a week while they were trying to figure out what I had) and then valtrex to take home. Was it herpes? was it shingles?

admin answers:

Herpes and shingles are synonymous with each other, since Herpes Zoster (the sexually transmitted kind) Herpes simplex (the cold sore kind), cytomegalovirus (CMV) and varicella (chicken pox) are all caused by the Herpesviridae family of viruses. These viruses are everywhere, and are easily transmitted through infected persons shedding the virus from their skin, saliva or sexual secretions.
You could have easily picked up the virus by kissing, sharing utensils (or sharing a soda with), or touching the surface (more likely a doorknob than a toilet seat) of an infected person.
HSV-1 causes shingles, which is the non-STD form of Herpes infection causes cold sores, or infecting nerves in the face, back or areas other than the genitals. HSV-2 causes genital herpes.
You could have picked up the virus in almost any manner, although the sharing of the underwear and public toilet seats are very unlikely ones (I would hope your roommate would have lent you a clean pair of underwear, and unless you are licking toilet seats, it’s very hard to pick anything up from them unless you have open wounds or sores on your butt)
So, the answer to your question is, yes, it was Herpes, and yes herpes causes shingles. If you had chickenpox as a child, its equally possible that you experienced what is known as a ‘flare’ which can happen in times of stress, since the virus lives forever in your nerves. Likely the time you had the cold sores in your mouth was the time you were actually infected.

Daniel asks…

I have had pretty much every symptom stress can cause. but dont exactly feel stressed. should I be worried?

symptoms Ive had that have been diagnosed as “stress” stomach pains, lower eye lid twitching, back pain and finally shingles..

admin answers:

The following link may be usefull for you for herbal and natural remedies to ease the ghastly pain of shingles ~

http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/23/130.cfm

lower eye lid twitching, “stress stomach pains” (bad digestion) and back pain may all be due to a lack of magnesium in your body.

Magnesium is needed in our bodys for healthy nerve and muscle functioning and of course for heart health ……. It is known as the antistress mineral …. If we become deficient our bodies will simply leach it from our bones where the greatest stores are held….. Hence all the twitching, shaking, pinching and nervous issues such as muscle twitching…… Other symptoms of magnesium deficiency are headaches and migraines, constipation, irritability and moodiness, muscle twitching such as facial tics or eyelids twitching…. Eat more foods rich in magnesium.

Foods rich in magnesium will also help to resolve high blood pressure.

Foods rich in magnesium will also increase the production of hydrochloric acid in your tummy thus aiding in digestion and helping to resolve any constipation ……… Lower back pain could result from constipation.

Ie ~ leafy and green vegies like broccolli, celery, buk choy, kale, chard (lightly steamed or raw as cooking devitalises them), organic nuts and seeds such as almonds and brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, fresh fish such as tuna and salmon and wholegrain cereals like brown rice and wholegrain breads.

Cut back on alcohol if you drink any also as this will deplete you of your magnesium supplies……… Amongst others and dehydrate you terribly ……. Hydrate yourself properly too…… At least 8 glasses of water daily …… Maybe that’s the “stress” stomach pains and lower back pain…… Waterwaterwater …… Every single cellular function your body performs needs water …… To digest your food, for your lungs to breath, your brain to think, to lubricate your joints, to transport nutrients…… Drink up mate.

Magnesium is known as the antistress mineral and works in tandem with calcium in a 2:1 relationship….. 2 parts calcium to 1 part magnesium……. All the foods mentioned above are also rich sources of calcium ……….except of course for the bread, rice and cereals …. Eating more foods rich in both will help to level out any stress also and will enable you to better deal with the everyday dose of stress we are all exposed to at some level.

Peace baby

What Do Neuralgia And Sciatica Have In Common

What Do Neuralgia And Sciatica Have In Common

Both neuralgia and sciatica (a form of neuralgia) affect people in their nerves, leading to chronic pain that can be very difficult to treat. Neuralgia is more commonly found in older people; however, anyone can suffer from both neuralgia and sciatica, sometimes in an ongoing battle where it comes and goes.

Neuralgia can be caused by a number of things including drugs, illness such as diabetes or infections like shingles when the nerve endings are put under pressure. Often, the cause is difficult to pinpoint. Neuralgia can either be central or peripheral and there are several types including trigeminal neuralgia, dental neuralgia, occipital neuralgia or postherpetic neuralgia. Sciatica is also a type of neuralgia that affects the nerve that runs from your spine, through your pelvis, down your leg and to your foot (the sciatic nerve).

Sciatica can be caused by overusing the leg, which impacts this particular nerve. It can also be caused by pressure on the pelvis, which affects the nerve endings of the sciatic nerve. This could come from a slipped disk, problems with the piriformis, tumours or pelvis injuries. Neuralgia and sciatica are thus both associated with damage to the nerves or the sciatic nerve respectively.

Because of the effect that neuralgia and sciatica have on the nerves the symptoms can vary. Those affected by neuralgia may feel muscle weakness or some sensitivity on parts of their skin while those affected by sciatica will feel a more localized pain along their sciatic nerve from their hip joints to knee joints to ankle joints, normally only on one side. Or they will feel the same symptoms as neuralgia – muscle weakness or sensitivity – but just along their leg. However the common symptom of neuralgia and sciatica is pain, which can be incredibly crippling. Pain may be constant or sharp and sudden.

Treatment for both neuralgia and sciatica is difficult as there are no tests to determine that the symptoms a person is experiencing are indeed neuralgia as they are similar to symptoms such as multiple sclerosis.

However pain relief is on the top of the lists for treatment for both neuralgia and sciatica because the pain for both can be so severe. Pain relief medication can range from antidepressants to over the counter painkillers or injections. For neuralgia, treatment will include trying to target the cause of the nerve damage whether it is diabetes or a tumour or shingles which is affecting the nerves. It is also often difficult to control pain because the nerves don’t react typically to painkillers in cases of neuralgia and sciatica.

For both neuralgia and sciatica, the symptoms may go away on their own, otherwise surgery can be considered for both if the pain continues over a long period. Surgery can help relieve the cause of the pain and nerve damage. In the case of sciatica, physical therapy is also an option where the legs, through which the sciatic nerve runs, can be stretched and flexed. The area which is sore can also be isolated by putting ice or heat on it.

Because of the nature of which neuralgia and sciatica come about, they are more commonly regarded as a symptom from a cause, than an actual isolated condition as something has caused the damage to the nerves which has resulted in the nerve pain. However both are very real and painful experiences to which there is often no quick fix and can lead to tender areas all over your body from back pain to muscle weakness. Those who experience this should consult their physicians as soon as possible.

Procedure For Herpes Zoster Treatment

Procedure For Herpes Zoster Treatment

Herpes zoster, also called shingles, is something that anyone can get if they have had chickenpox in the past. If untreated it can last for up to a couple of weeks, however it is not recommended, as treatment is primarily necessary due to the discomfort and pain it causes and few people can withstand it for too long. Postherpetic neuralgia and many other neurological conditions are a few of common outcomes of Shingles pains. Herpes zoster treatment is rather simple and does not require more than taking medication and if necessary applying creams. It can be described as inflaming skin, full of irritating and painful blisters. It usually begins with simple burning or pain in the skin and muscles which is followed by flu like symptoms as well as the blister like rash along the body. It can appear any place all over the body, however, is usually location near the spine and on one side of the body. There are cases that it has been found on the face, arms, and legs.

Certain anticonvulsants and antidepressants are advised by doctors commonly but in some cases when it go out of control, narcotic medication is also prescribed. For skin, pain doctors usually prescribe numbing sprays, gels, and creams. Shingles has many stages, all of them are not that serious so main focus should be, to ease up the patients. There are also some things you can do to ease the pain at home by relaxing and ensuring that you do not overstresses. Keep yourself relaxed and calm as it will speed up the process of recovery. Perhaps it’s itching and pains keep all the mental attentions focused towards the painful area. Also cool baths, oatmeal baths, and compresses will help with the pain. You can get better recovery from Shingles pains in initial or mild stages with ibuprofen, any oral antihistamines or some over the counter anti-itch creams.

During your herpes zoster treatment if you find that the rash has reached your face and you feel like you are experiencing hearing loss, eyesight problems, or blindness contact your doctor immediately. Also, in the case that your temperature reaches or goes over 103. This may mean that your doctor might need to change treatment.

If Shingles is not left untreated or doesn’t go to some advanced level, it doesn’t leave any long lasting effects. You should discuss it with your physician who can guide you a lot better which measures should you take to contain the disease in herpes zoster treatment.

Pruritus Ani Treatment

Pruritus Ani Treatment

Pruritis ani, literally “itchy anus,” is another condition that may or may not be caused by hemorrhoids. When a hemorrhoid itches, it is usually because it is secreting mucus, or is irritated by retained feces. A fissure itches for the same reasons. But pruritus ani can also be caused by diabetes, hormonal changes, yeast infection, pinworms, sexually transmitted disease such as chlamydia and herpes, and even cancer.

Hemorrhoid treatments are often searched for on the internet because they are such a common problem, and you, the hemorrhoid sufferer, want to find the quickest and easiest solution to your problem. Finding the right hemorrhoid treatment may be your best hope to eliminating your hemorrhoids before resorting to surgery.

Another procedure is the rubber hand ligation. This is the most famous non-surgical treatment since this can be applicable to both small and medium sizes of hemorrhoids. In rubber band ligation procedure, a rubber band is being wrapped around the sac-like protrusion. The rubber band will serve as an instrument that will restrict the flow of blood circulation in the affected area. Lack of blood flow will help in its shrinking, and then, to its eventual healing.

Constipation is commonly treated as the one of the primary causes that creates hemorrhoid which can be averted by high fiber diet to make the stool soft. Vegetables like asparagus, brussels  sprouts, carrots, and cabbages, whole grains, and cereals, and all types of fresh foods contains elevated fiber .  Another point should be noted that plenty of drinking water is can prevent constipation at a higher rate.

Dry, itchy skin is a condition that has many causes and its treatment varies accordingly. Usually, the various conditions are collectively referred to as dermatitis or eczema. The two terms are often interchanged, but there is a significant difference between them.

Causes of Scabies:

Scabies is caused by a mite (Sarcoptes scabiei) which burrows under the skin, but the rash and itch are much more widespread than the location of the mites. Scabies is passed on from one person to another through intimate contact between bed fellows, infected bedding and clothes, by sharing a bed or from children who hold hands while playing. The mite can live on the discarded clothes for a couple of days. After contact, it takes about 6 weeks for the itching to start.

Viral reactivation ( reinfection) in an individual previously exposed to the varicella-zoster virus results in the development of herpes zoster (shingles). In this disease, small vesicles 3-5 mm in diameter occur in clustered patterns. Each cluster consists of 5-20 vesicles; numerous clusters are found in a linear distribution along a single dermatome. The eruption occurs unilaterally with little or no crossover at the midline.

Hemorrhoids can be cured permanently by means of homeopathic medication. The best part about this kind of medication is that the remedies are way more low priced than the traditional treatment methods without having any side effects. It basically aids the body’s natural immune power by minimum amount of medicine dose.

The most important and the easiest way to prevent and treat it, is to relieve stress. Deep breathing and meditations can help a great deal because nothing is more relaxing than a sound mind. When you are relaxing and enjoying yourself, your body comes into more balance and hormonal imbalances that often causes stress will be relieved.

Home treatment for rectal itching depends on the cause of the itching. But because anal itching can be caused by so many things, it could be a long process to determine the source. My absolute best advise is to go see a medical professional. But if you are like 44 million other Americans, by not having paid healthcare., you may not have the funds. If you live in the Washington, DC area and you don’t have paid health insurance, go to Unity Health Care.

Symptoms:

Pruritus in your pet will show you some very distinct symptoms once you understand the itch threshold the best you can with your individual cat. The first symptom will be scratching and itching, but it will not be normal itching. It will in most all cases evolve very rapidly to biting as well. If the scratching and biting exceed twenty four hours, your cat now has a full blown case of Pruritus.

Chronic hepatitis means active, ongoing inflammation of the liver persisting for more than six months. Chronic hepatitis, although much less common than acute hepatitis, can persist for years, even decades. In most people, it is quite mild and does not cause significant liver damage. It may be caused by hepatitis B and C viruses, drugs and excessive alcohol drinking. It can also result in cirrhosis, with an enlarged spleen and fluid accumulation in the abdominal cavity.

Although established hypertrophic scars can respond to treatment, early treatment of scars within the first months might prevent hypertrophy in individuals who are keloid-prone. I have certainly seen the benefits of early PDL treatment of excised recurrent keloids (Smith, Lanigan and Murison, unpublished observations).

Knowling the Signs of Kidney Stones

Knowling the Signs of Kidney Stones

Kidney Stone disease is a disorder involving hardened accumulations of marble crystals that are deposited in the kidneys and ureters. The pebbles are regularly small, but can adapt in bulk from a grain of smooth to the extent of a golf ball. Kidney shingle was rather universal, touching over 5% of Americans and more regularly in men than women. Recurrence of the disease is widespread and reaches as high as 50%, especially during the summer months. There are five foremost categories of kidney gravel but calcium sand occur to be the most prevalent.

Clinical symptoms of kidney sand vary from no throbbing if the sandstone is not pathetic to worrying grief that has been compared to childbirth. The first gesture of a kidney pebble is often bloody urine or intense shooting soreness in the border province or the lesser abdomen. As the seed moves down the ureter (the tiny tube that connects the kidneys to the bladder), the menace may grow to incisive cramping or become unbearable renal gripes. An urge to urinate or burning on urination occurs as the tiny muscles of the ureter effort to move the kidney marble along. Associated sickness and vomiting or a dignity of mild shock may be dowry. Steady, harsh hurt may be a initial that the granite has lodged. If this is accompanied with fever or chills, it may be an indication of infection and health attention should be required immediately.

The affect of kidney rock formation is not forever palpable and commonly involves several factors. Dehydration and a convivial climate, as well as a diet high in proteins or oxalate can advantage to concentrated urine and the launch of a kidney granite. Kidney sand was also known to run in families and may be related to a deskbound lifestyle or immobility. Active pelt formers may also be torments from an abnormality that prevents them from metabolizing calcium and oxalates.

The diagnosis of kidney shingle is usually made on the root of the site and severity of the ache, then definite by a x-ray or CT inspect. Ultrasounds are also helpful and an urinalysis or urine nation may be done to evaluate granite levels. Blood may be tense and a pasty faction regard has done to ensure that there is no infection offering. If any pebbles are conceded in the urine, it is important to stockpile them for the physician to evaluate and establish their causes.

Treatment of kidney shingle is relatively uncomplicated as most gravel will surpass spontaneously on their own. The focus is preventing infection and minimizing the pest associated with demise the sandstone. Surgery may be vital if the kidney granite is bigger than 5mm, if it is blocking the current of urine or causing an infection or if it will not dispatch on its own and is causing faithful smarting. A process that involves shattering the seed with shock waves is the most common intervention. For large sand, the doctor may make a small score in the back and detach the rock exactly with a nephroscope. Open surgical procedures to amputate kidney gravel are modest as a last choice because of the endanger of hemorrhage.

For those who bear from frequent kidney shingle, the key focus should be prevention. Prevention of kidney sand is the best alleviate and may compose dietary or lifestyle changes. An adequate fluid intake of at slightest 6-8 glasses of water daily is imperative to film out reserves and inhibit kidney stones from forming. Other preventive strategies involve adopting a diet low in protein and sodium, as well as avoiding oxalate-affluent foods. It is also important to retain a diet adequate in dairy foods and calcium. Contrary to what was once thought, fresh inquiries has proven that a diet high in calcium may actually help preclude kidney stone formation. Last, thiazide diuretics may be prescribed to snowball urine formation and flush the body of any accumulating sandstone salts.

Although they can still be aching, kidney stones are no longer the dreaded disease they once were. Most patients have very good prognoses and brilliant outcomes. The improve of technology and the focus on prevention has terribly compact the charge and menace of having kidney stones.

Your Questions About Shingles

Donna asks…

How do you cure Shingles?

One of my relative have shingles and the doctor prescript her Valtrex and pain reliever. Does anyone know any home remedies she can use to get rid of the pain?

admin answers:

Shingles is NOT herpes, but the virus is similar in structure. That’s why the Valtrex will help (even though Valtrex is generally used for herpes). They do not come and go either–you generally only get them once and then you are immune. Singles is similar to the chicken pox, except you can usually only get them as an adult. Usually you’re immune to the virus if you’ve had the chicken pox, but some people are an exception. There is not cure for them, but they will go away on there own after about a week. They are contagious though, so it’s advised that you limit contact with anyone who hasn’t had the chicken pox or shingles or been vaccinated against them until it clears up.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin (ibuprofen) would work well for the pain as long as she is not allergic to them. Good luck!

John asks…

admin answers:

If you truly have “shingles” you need to keep doing what the Dr says. In your mouth, throat or around your eyes is dangerous.

Real medical doctors in the U.S. Prescribe “Mary’s Magic Potion” for several mouth and throat issues.

I know, my Mom had it prescribed by an ear, nose, and throat Dr, and her family Doc, who is also a heart Doc. It does work on some things oral. Sounds ridiculous, but it does exist and comes from a pharmacy.

I hope you get some relief soon, shingles is very painful and it can take a while to get much better. The Dr can prescribe some meds to help, but it may have been too far along to help in your case?

Maria asks…

What is your opinion on shingles? I had chicken pox when I was a baby and have developed a rash?

Do you have any home remedies to sooth the rash rather then take steroidal creams? Had bit of fever as well and feel weak. Any ideas

admin answers:

You asked for an opinion on shingles. Since you reported you had chicken pox as a baby, you are a candidate for getting shingles at some point in your life since the chicken pox and shingles virus are one in the same. After one has had chicken pox, the virus that caused chicken pox remains dormant in the central nervous system. Stress, immune system deficiencies, and other factors can reactivate the virus, and that results in shingles occurring. One in five people get shingles, so it’s a rather common problem. It can also be extremely painful, and in some people can cause health issues for years.

Linda asks…

WHAT ARE SO REMEDIES I COULD USE TO GET RID OF SHINGLES FAST?

THEY ARE REALLY PAIN FULL AND ITCHY, AND THE RASH IT’S NASTY! I CANT WEAR OPEN CLOTHES CAUSE I DON’T WANT PEOPLE TO SEE IT, I DON’T EVEN FEEL COMFORTABLE AROUND MY HOUSE MY REGULAR LIFE BACK. DO YOU KNOW ANY FAST REMEDY? PLEASE IF YOU DO TELL ME!

admin answers:

I haven’t ever heard a quick remedy for shingles. It’s go to the Doctor ( for fear of getting nerve damage if the shingles are bad enough) or wait the pain out.

If you’re interested, though. Ever heard of mental connections to health problems? There’s this book “YOu can Heal Your Life” that (in my opinion) is really good.

Here what it says about shingles:
fear and tension. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Too sensitive. I am relaxed and peaceful.
ANd there’s an affirmation for trying to convince your mind that “it’s all good” so that you can get healthy again:
I am relaxed and peaceful because i trust the process of life. All is well in my world.

Hope you get well soon

Abdominal pain causes and treatment

Abdominal pain causes and treatment

Article by Vinay Gupta

There are many organs in the abdomen. Pain in the abdomen can originate from any one of them, including Organs related to digestion the end of the esophagus, the stomach, the small and large intestines, the liver, the gallbladder, and the pancreas. The aorta, a large blood vessel that runs straight down the inside of the abdomen. The appendix, an organ in the lower right abdomen that no longer serves much function, the kidneys, two bean shaped organs that lie deep within the abdominal cavity, the spleen, an organ involved in blood maintenance and infection control.

However, one may have referred pain to the abdomen i.e. the pain may start from somewhere else, like your chest or pelvic area. You may also have a generalized infection, such as the flu or strep throat, that affects many parts of your body. So, keeping in mind the various organs in the abdomen, the possible causes include appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix), bowel obstruction, Cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder) with or without gallstones, Chronic constipation, Dissecting abdominal aortic aneurysm, Diverticular disease, including diverticulitis, Early-stage shingles (a viral infection where pain begins before the appearance of a rash), Excessive gas, Food allergy, Food poisoning (salmonella, shigella), Gastroesophageal reflux, Heartburn or indigestion, Obstructed Hernia, Infectious mononucleosis, Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis), Intussusception — while uncommon, this is a serious possible cause of pain in an infant who may be bringing the knees to the chest and crying, Irritable bowel syndrome, Kidney stones, Lactose intolerance, Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), Parasitic infections (Giardia), Sickle cell crisis, Spinal fracture, Ulcers, Urinary tract infections, Viral gastroenteritis (stomach flu) etc.

The treatment depends on the whether there is mild inflammation, infection or involvement of the intestines etc requiring surgery. Abdominal pain without fever, vomiting, vaginal bleeding, passing out, chest pain, or other serious symptoms often gets better without special treatment. Taking rest, light home diet, fluids and anti-inflammatories like Tylenol/ibuprofen, antacids are treatment enough in such cases. In severe pain not improving with time and home care, a doctor evaluation is needed. Then depending on the cause, appropriate antibiotics or intravenous fluids/injections can be given. In cases like appendicitis, intestinal obstruction etc, immediate surgery is needed.

Living with HIV/Aids ? Essential Information for a Better Quality of Life

Living with HIV/Aids ? Essential Information for a Better Quality of Life

HIV/Aids is an Immune System Disorder in which the body’s ability to defend itself against infections, is greatly diminished.  HIV is spread primarily through sexual or blood-to-blood contact.  To put this simply, in layman’s terms, the HIV virus enters the bloodstream and attaches itself to the service of a white blood cell (the CD4 cell’s receptors).  The virus then changes its genetic information into that of the white blood cell.  The virus cannot be recognized by other white blood cells and is, over time, able to replicate itself into hundreds of HIV viruses.  When the HIV virus has used the cellular material of the white blood cell, this breaks open and the new virus can, and does, spread through the bloodstream.

A person infected with HIV can go through five stages of the disease:
 1.  Primary HIV infection stage
 2.  A symptomatic latent phase
 3.  Minor symptomatic phase
 4.  Major symptomatic phase
 5.  AIDS defining conditions; the severe symptomatic stage.

Symptoms of  Stage 1 are:
• Sore throat, headache, mild fever, fatigue, muscle and joint pains, swelling of the lymph nodes, rash and mouth ulcerations.  The CD4 cell count is approx. 800-1200 cells/mm3.

Symptoms of  Stage 2 are:
• No symptoms occur as this is the latent stage.  The CD4 cell count is between 500 and 800 cells

Symptoms of  Stage 3 are:
• Swelling of the lymph nodes/glands in the neck, armpits and groin.
• Occasional fevers, recurrent chest infections.
• Shingles, skin infections and rashes.
• Recurrent mouth ulcers
• Weight loss up to 10% of the person’s usual body weight.
• Prolonged, unexplained fatigue.
The CD4 count is between 350 and 500 cells

Symptoms of  Stage 4 are:
• Persistent and recurrent oral and vaginal Candida infections (thrush)
• Recurrent herpes infections eg cold sores
• Recurrent shingles infections (herpes zoster)
• Recurrent bacterial skin infections and skin rashes
• Fever that lasts for more than a month, night sweats
• Chronic diarrhea that lasts for more than a month
• Significant and unexplained weight loss
• Abdominal discomfort, headaches
• Thickened white patches on inside of the tongue
• Persistent cough and reactivation of TB
• Opportunistic diseases of various kinds
The CD4 count is between 150 and 350 cells

Symptoms of  Stage 5 are:
• Continuous diarrhea, nausea and vomiting causing weight loss.
• Persistent recurrent vaginal candidiasis.
• Cold Sores and oral thrush
• Severe and recurrent skin infections
• Respiratory infections causing persistent cough, chest pain and fever.
• Pneumonia
• Weigh loss, tiredness
• Severe shingles
• Body pains, numbness or ‘pins and needles’
• Memory loss, poor concentration, headaches or confusion.
• Cryptococcal meningitis, presenting with fever, headache, stiffness of the neck, mental state change
• Infection causing brain damage
• Painless reddish brown swelling on the skin and mucous membranes
• TB
• Other sexual transmitted diseases (STD)
The CD4 cell count is below 200 cells.

The three main modes/causes of infection are:
1. Unprotected sexual intercourse with an HIV infected person
2. Infection through contaminated blood or blood products
3. Mother – child transmission of HIV
                      via the placenta
                      during childbirth  OR
                      through breastfeeding.

All these symptoms can be confused with many other illnesses, so the only way to be sure that you have, or have not, got AIDS is to be tested.  If you are positive, then you can make a major contribution to your survival and quality of life by getting into an early treatment program in which Immune Enhancement is encouraged.

If you are already on Anti Retro-Viral drugs, or have not yet commenced this program, you can do your body, and yourself, a huge favor by CLICKING ON THIS LINK and considering their Cell Forte Powder, L-Lysine and the Stress B-50 capsules  – These products are absolutely essential in helping the body cope with this awful virus.  GOOD HEALTH NATURALLY
