What is a possible public health consequence of the incubation time for diseases caused by proviruses? Well I had some technical difficulties inserting the table but I will list what was in it. So for diseases: measles have an incubation time of 9-11 days, shingles have an incubation time of years, warts have an incubation time of months, a cold has an incubation time of 2-4 days, and HIV has an incubation time of 2-5 years.

Your Questions About Shingles

What will work for pain/itch relief of shingles?

I was diagnosed with shingles last Wednesday and the doctor prescribed me Famvir and Lortab 7.5. I want to stop taking the Lortab because it’s making me constipated, but Tylenol isn’t going to do the trick. I’m allergic to ibuprofen and aspirin too, which really limits my options. The doctor told me not to put anything on the blisters.
So is there anything else that I could try for pain relief? They just started itching this morning (which is almost worse than the burning pain in my opinion.)
Oh, and my doctor is out of town and the doctor covering for him is terrible (bad experiences before with him) so I can’t exactly call asking for a different pain reliever.
Thanks for any advice/suggestions in advance!

A little five year old boy, small for his age, that I look after, he had shingles, he was given medicine, but to help the itching, we put calamine lotion on the blisters, but also, got him to soak half an hour whenever he was really bothered in a bath of oatmeal, we got the Aveno kind, and it was great. 🙂 It helped him a lot, and then we’d put more calamine lotion on afterwards. Wrapping a cold wet towel around the area will help as well as itching is often caused by the heat under the blisters. I hope some of these help! 🙂

okay i’m 15…i woke with a small rash on my forehead went to the doctor…It’s shingles most likely from stress and i have always had a low immune system…but anyways it hurts really really bad and my ear and jaw are also hurting, but no rash. Is it spreading to my ear and jaw? and what is the best way to relieve the pain? (other than pain pills)

After all, they all must take the right courses in their undergrad education to prepare them for medical school. These courses will differ from program to program, but they will generally be concentrated in the math and sciences. Biology, physics, chemistry, and other such courses will be of particular interest to anyone in the premed program. Following graduation, they will move on to medical school, where they will be steeped in learning about the body, science, and the theory of medicine. After graduation, they will move into a residency program, just as all doctors must, as they learn on a practical basis as they work with patients.

It is at this point that the individual interested in becoming a plastic surgeon will branch off from the traditional path. They may go into a second residency, with this one taking place under the tutelage of an experienced surgeon. This may involve more training as they strive to master the concepts behind cosmetic surgery and the many factors that separate the science from other forms of surgery. They may choose to become certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, although this is not a requirement to put out a shingle in the U.S.

It should be noted that anyone who is a licensed M.D. in the U.S. may practice any type of medicine they wish with no further training. This is why you should be careful when choosing a plastic surgeon. The doctor performing your breast augmentation may have no experience or training at all in this particular discipline. Don’t be afraid to be your own advocate when it comes to making your decision. Ask the doctor point blank what their training consisted of, how long they’ve been performing cosmetic surgery, and so on. Finding an experienced surgeon isn’t difficult, so don’t overlook this important step.
