Herpes virus ? An overview and online treatment for it
Viral infections have become quite common among men and women all over the world. Herpes is one of the highly contagious DNA viruses, which causes several infections that are sexually transmitted infections. Unfortunately, on contracting infections by this virus, you cannot cure them completely, but they can be treated with the help of antiviral medications. The two most widely spread herpes viruses are herpes simplex virus and zoster virus, which can lead to infections such as genital herpes, cold sores and shingles. These infections are caused by strains of herpes virus known as HSV 1 and HSV 2. This virus on entering your body remains dormant for a prolonged period of time and then remains active for short periods of time. When the virus is active, you are likely to suffer from considerable discomfort and pain.
What is genital herpes?
Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus, and can be contracted through unprotected sexual contact. This infection is highly infectious and can cause symptoms such as fluid filled blisters, red sores and ulcers appearing on and around your genitals, thighs, buttocks and anus. You can also contract this infection by sharing your sex toys with an infected person and becoming sexually active at an early age. One can also contract this infection, through physical contact with an infected area. Because of this reason, one can also pass on the infection to his or her partner through oral sex. Most of the people who are infected with genital herpes, experience the symptoms within the first couple of days after getting infected. But some people can experience an outbreak of the infection after about a week, or a month or at times even after a year of getting infected.
What are shingles and cold sores?
Shingles is another uncomfortable and painful viral infection, which is caused by another strain of the herpes virus, the zoster virus. Shingles is a major factor, which is responsible for causing other infections such as chickenpox. Those who have suffered from chickenpox at a younger age are more likely to develop shingles at an adult age. But this virus is not contagious, like that of the herpes simplex virus, which causes genital herpes. But if you have not suffered from chickenpox in your childhood, then you are likely to contract shingles, on coming into contact with a person with active symptoms of the virus. Cold sores on the other hand, are caused by a different strain of the herpes simplex virus. You can contract cold sores through direct contact with an infected person.
How can you treat herpes infections?
Being viral infections, these infections can unfortunately not be completely cured, but can be treated with the help of antivirals. You can use antiviral medications such as Aciclovir, Valtrex and Famvir. Aciclovir is an antiviral, which is prescribed to people who are experiencing the symptoms of genital herpes for the very first time. It has also been proven to be very effective in treating shingles, but it can take as long as six to twelve months for treating cold sores. Valtrex has also proven to be very effective in treating these infections, within as early as 24 hours. Famvir is also a fast effective treatment for these infections, and can help prevent full outbreaks of an infection from occurring.
