Early symptoms of shingles include:
Headache.
Sensitivity to light.
Flu-like symptoms without a fever.
You may then feel itching, tingling, or extreme pain in the area where a rash will develop several days later, commonly on your back or neck. The rash progresses into clusters of blisters along the path of the nerve. The blisters fill with fluid and eventually crust over. It takes 2 to 4 weeks for the blisters to heal, although some scars may remain. 2
Complications of shingles can occur and include:
Postherpetic neuralgia, persistent pain that lasts longer than 1 month after the rash heals.
Disseminated zoster, a blistery rash that spreads over a large portion of the body and can affect the heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, joints, and intestinal tract. Infection may spread to nerves that control movement, which may cause temporary weakness.
Cranial nerve complications, if shingles affects the nerves originating in the brain. Complications can include inflammation or blockage of blood vessels.
Herpes zoster ophthalmicus, a shingles rash on the forehead, cheek, nose, and around one eye that could threaten your sight. This type of shingles needs immediate treatment. 3
How is shingles treated?
There is no cure for shingles, but treatment may shorten the length of illness and prevent complications. Treatment may include:
Antiviral medications, sometimes in combination with corticosteroids, to reduce the pain and duration of shingles.
Pain medications, antidepressants, and topical creams to relieve long-term pain.
Who gets shingles?
You must have had chickenpox, even a mild case, to get shingles. You have an increased risk of developing shingles if you: 1Are older than 50.
Have an autoimmune disease, meaning your immune system attacks its own tissues as though they were foreign substances.
Have another medical condition or stress that weakens the immune system.
You cannot develop shingles if you have not had chickenpox.

Roofing… I have a house that is 14 years young. The shingles are showing signs of moss.?
The house was constructed new and I have shingles that have a 20 year warranty. A few have blown off in winds of 40-50 mph and I have had them replaced. The shingles show signs of wear. How does one find out if a “warranty” applies. When talking with the installing company I get “you know the shingles are old”. Yeah, so what, they were sold and designed to last for 20 years and they are showing severe wear and I’m afraid a leak will develop and I will have worse problems. It seems contacting installers is futile…they all want to sell you a new roof job. Should I be able to contact the shingle manufacturer and have their representative look at it?

You’ll be wasting your time trying to pursue a mfr. Warranty claim. If you were able to get a rep. To take you seriously he will have a half dozen reasons to explain why your situation doesn’t qualify and in order to dispute his claims you will expend more time and effort to no avail. To site a few examples; inadequate attic ventilation can cause premature shingle failure. Installation deficiencies are easy to point to although this would be more a matter of opinion since you don’t mention water leakage. The pitch of the roof in the affected area, shade trees, humidity if you live in an area of water. My suggestion to you would be to make a few calls to the local roofing center that sells the brand and at least try to get someone to look at it, I wouldn’t spend more than a week on it though….you’re efforts would be better spent price shopping a good architectural shingle and looking for an established contractor short on work. I suggest Tamko Heritage II 50yr. Shingles over your existing felt if it’s in good shape. You should be able to supply materials for $95-$125/square, a good price point balance with quality material. Best of luck. Oh yeah, my source is experience building luxury homes in the Northeast. Unfortunately 20-25 year shingles are the bottom of the barrel quality and are still being used by cost conscious builders.

What are the signs of shingles?
I am having terrible side pain and I went to the doc today and he ordered a pelvic ultrasound to be done. Got ti done everything was normal. Now he thinks I may have shingles but I have no blisters or rash. The pain is below my waist and feels like a sharp stabbing, burning pain in the back and front and on the side. The doc said if it is still hurting ina few days to go back. What could it be?
My pain started went I bent over to pick something up and I got the sharp burining pain on my side.I couldn’t walk at first and the pain went all the way down my leg but I only had leg pain then. None after it happened just while it was happening.

My grandpa had shingles all over his face but it normally occurs in the older age group and you look pretty young so I cant see how it would be shingles. I would refer to webMD if you are truly curious they are a big help. Hope this helps you.

what are the very first sign of shingles?
ive got a very small patch that is discoloured on my stomach. it is like a rash under the skin and i am terrified that it is shingles.

admin answers:
In shingles the pain usually precedes any rash and usually the rash when it does start begins close to the origin of the nerve root, ie the back rather than the front of the body.
