How long should I wait before checking for Herpes symptoms?
I had unprotected oral sex last night…I don’t really know the girl and I don’t want to go up to her and ask.
I really hope I didn’t get herpes as I have no idea if she had or not but how long does it take for it to show any kind of symptoms of oral herpes? And what symptoms should I be looking out for?

Genital herpes is generally contracted from skin to skin contact with an infected area. For example, if someone has a genital herpes infection they can pass on the virus to another person by touching or making contact with the area, such as through vaginal, anal or oral sex, or by rubbing against the infection. Once infected with genital herpes, the virus remains inside the body in a latent (sleeping) state. Throughout a person’s life the virus can then become “activated” causing a genital herpes recurrence.
During a primary genital herpes episode (the first outbreak) it is common to feel flu like symptoms, such as swollen glands, headache or fever. Aching or ‘tingling’ sensations in the groin, thigh and buttocks muscles may also occur. Itching, pain and tingling sensations called the prodrome (or warning symptoms) typically occur 1 to 2 days before any sores appear. A genital herpes infection will generally appear as a small, fluid-filled blister which goes through a cycle of phases. The blister will usually weep (ulcerate) and form a scab or ‘crusting’ before healing and disappearing completely.

i have a simple question.
how long does it usually take for warts and herpes to show up on guys once they start having some of the symtopms such as itching?
in other words, how long after the symtoms does it usually take for the person to see/notice them with naked eye?
i lost my virginity to this girl like 4 months ago and i have been having unprocted sex with her for the past 2-3 months. 15 days ago, i noticed that my skin right before the head of my penis was changed. it was really soft too. i went to a doctor and he said he doesn’t see anything wrong with it and that it was only like that cause i have had too much sex. the thing is ever since i noticed i was having itching problems all the time but it kept getting better as well as my skin. nothing has changed and if anything its getting better so thats why i wanted to ask.

When will the first symptoms of the HS1 virus surface?
When some one is infected for the first time with Herpes Simplex 1, or Oral Herpes, about how long before the symptoms show up initially? A week? Couple days? A month? A year?

Usually between 1-3 weeks after being infected. But your body can naturally suppress herpes for long periods of time even after being infected, so it can take longer then 3 weeks to have an out break.

How long after a sexual encounter will herpes show up on a blood test? I know the q-tip test is only effective if you have symptoms, which I dont. What I’d like to know is how long does it take for the herpes antibodies to show up on a herpes blood test? Thanks.

Onset of herpes symptoms after exposure?

Alright here is the chain of events:
7:30ish: I get hit in the face by a kids hand while playing a game of basketball. It was apparent to me that my lip was cut, but there was no blood. I continued playing basketball until around 8:00.
8:00: Go up to the weight room, lift weights on the machines and the free weights. Came into contact with some sanitation rags which are used to clean off the machines. May have made contact with lip after touching one of these rags, may have not.
9:00 PM: Go home with a sort of fat lip, don’t think much of it. Assumed it would stop swelling by the morning.
7:15 AM: Wake up, take a look at my mouth, see a brownish mark on the exact same place where the kid hit me the night before. Mouth still swollen. The brownish mark reminds me of herpes pictures I have seen in the past.
The question: Could I have contracted herpes from gym equipment the night before? Does the fact that it only took less than 12 hours for something to show up on my lip mean that it is probably not a herpes infection?
It should be noted that I went to a doctor and he thought it was a bacterial infection of some sort. Did not prescribe me Valtrex. Prescribed me an anti-bacterial agent. Obviously he does not believe it is herpes. Still, have you heard of herpes spreading and showing signs so quickly, or do you think its just from the cut I have? Please help, I am anxious. Very anxious.

Herpes has an incubation period of about 8 days, so it is very possible that you have contacted it. Although some things such a strong immune system can cause it to be a prolonged incubation period.
