Does This Look Like Shingles?
Hi everyone!
I think I have shingles, can someone identify if this rash on my arm is shingles or not? http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa178/Anime-aholic/?action=view¤t=myrash.jpg
That is an older pic of it but it looks pretty close to what it is now. My rash has spread a bit though. BTW, I have all the symptoms of shingles, so don’t worry about asking me that. I just want to know, if this a shingles rash?
I just found a pic of someone with shingles on their arm. Looks exaclty like mine.

Hard to say – if you think you have the symptoms then by all means it explains the rash – ?? Here’s what I know.
The first sign of shingles is often burning or tingling pain, or sometimes numbness or itch, in one particular location on only one side of the body. After several days or a week, a rash of fluid-filled blisters, similar to chickenpox, appears in one area on one side of the body. Shingles pain can be mild or intense. Some people have mostly itching; some feel pain from the gentlest touch or breeze. The most common location for shingles is a band, spanning one side of the trunk around the waistline. Anyone who has had chickenpox is at risk for shingles.

Maria asks…
Could this be related to my shingles?
When i was younger i had shingles, the rash was on the right side of my stomach. Now, i ocasionally get days where i have an irritating pain in one spot on my right side. it has happened all day today. I never thought about it before, but could this be related to the shingles i had because i know that people can suffer symptoms afterwards.

admin answers:
Its possible. Shingles is caused by your nerves. Its possible that the nerves are still causing pain. If possible, try Lyrica, it helps with nerve pain related to Shingles, so they say. Hope you start feeling better. 🙂

I think i have shingles…i have had a headache for about 3 weeks and have a small rash on my side.?
aAnd over the last week my insides have begun hurting when i walk…if anyone has had shingles and had similiar symptoms please advise.

I’ve had shingles before. First of all if it is shingles you are now contagious to any unvaccinated person that has not had chicken pox so be careful who gets exposed to you. You can go to the doctor and get a prescription for Valtrex. It may help. I had to wear loose clothing for a few weeks because anything touching my side hurt even though the “rash” I had was small, only slightly larger than a bug bite. The rash was a kinda blistery rash. My whole left side hurt as if I’d been beaten with a board. The pain was external (not insides) it felt as if my skin was bruised and kinda burning. Stay calm. It does go away but you won’t ever forget the pain.

Richard asks…
Are shingles contageus?
I recently came down with shingles, and am worried that if I am around people that it might be contageous. I have checked out all the online medical websites, and they are all very detailed about what shingles is and its symptoms, they’re just kind of vague on the topic of whether its contageous or not.

admin answers:
YES! Read below: Shingles are related to the virus that causes chicken pox, which is the herpes zoster virus. While chicken pox generally affects children, when it appears in adults and teens it can be far more serious. The incubation period is between 14 to 21 days. Symptoms start with a skin rash. Often a fever, pimples and then blisters that enlarge and become filled with pus. The skin can become very itchy. DO NOT scratch the affected areas, as it could cause scarring (believe me, I still have scars 40 years later).; The blisters dry up in a few days and are covered with scales. AFTER ALL THE BLISTERS HAVE SCABBED, THE DISEASE IS NO LONGER CONTAGIOUS.
To help relieve symptoms, wash the affected area with a good antibacterial liquid soap, pat dry and liberally apply Tea Tree Oil
(Melaleuca Alternifolia Oil) allow the oil to sufficiently soak into the skin. (tea tree oil penetrates to the bone level is a very effective antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, kills staph, strep, e.coli, and candida albicans among other healing virtues.)

Does it sound like Shingles to you?
I went to the Doc yesterday because I had a lot of pain on/in my left shoulder and down my arm. I was nervous that it could be heart related so I made an appointment right away. My Doc poked around and said I had the “Classic Symptoms” of shingles. She told me to watch very carefully for a rash and to call her if I see one. So of course this morning I woke up with a rash under my left arm. I don’t have any blisters but I have a small rash that burns and itches. I am also still having a lot of pain in and around my shoulder blade. My whole shoulder aches, I have pains shooting down my arm and it feels like someone is poking me with pins. The pain comes and goes. I am only 26 but I have had a lot of stress with my job and my husband and I just bought our first money pit/ home. I am just wondering if anyone can relate to this? Does it sound like shingles? I am waiting for the Doc to call me back…. Any help would be great! Thank you,
